In Taoist Medicine, it is said that the life of each individual is like a river which remembers its source and follows the riverbed on its way to the sea. There is a simple intelligence, a continuing thread, resulting from a greater emergence and initiative from Heaven. We are flowering into our fullest potential with every breath. In this state, our bodies are healthy and robust, our minds calm, and our purpose clear.
There are times, however, when our rivers get diverted, flood, or dry up. This happens when we are no longer connected to the natural cycles of nature. Our minds become stuck in destructive loops, our bodies fall into patterns of disease, and our spirits no longer have access to the heavens. We may feel lost on each level of body, mind, and spirit.
Acupuncture is an ancient medicine that invites a return to the source where wellness flows. We are made up of channels, meridians, rivers and seas, and acupuncture restores the proper flow of these currents. Much like the seasons, Taoist medicine works with the cyclical nature of all life. Once our bodies learn to live in harmony with the seasons, even in the busy city, a level of ease can be remembered and restored.
“Needling the points is not a matter of hitting notes on a piano. It is a matter of arousing the vitality in these precise locations, in a certain way and at a certain time, to obtain a response and remedy what is not right. Revitalization is carried out with minimum interference by bringing the blocked or diverted flow back to its original course. This return to the origin is the return to authenticity”
